Overview
Auto Sum gives you instant totals when you select budget line items in JobTread. Click row numbers to select items and a live "Selection Totals" panel appears at the top of the Mass Budget Actions sidebar showing Extended Cost, Extended Price, and Profit with margin percentage.
How to Use

Open a job budget
Navigate to any job's budget page in JobTread

Select line items
Click the row numbers on the left side of the budget table to select items. The Mass Budget Actions sidebar will open automatically.

View your totals
A "Selection Totals" panel appears at the top of the sidebar showing:
- Extended Cost — Total cost of selected items
- Extended Price — Total price of selected items
- Profit — Price minus cost, with margin percentage

Adjust your selection
Click additional rows to add them or click selected rows to deselect. Totals update live as your selection changes.
Key Details
- Live updates — Totals recalculate instantly as you select or deselect rows
- Handles scrolling — Items scrolled out of view still count toward the totals (JobTread uses virtual scrolling for large budgets)
- Skips parent groups — Only actual line items are summed, not group header rows that get auto-highlighted when children are selected
- TBD items — Items marked TBD are skipped and a count is shown so you know some items couldn't be included
- Column-aware — Reads your budget column headers to find Extended Cost and Extended Price regardless of column order or which columns you have visible
Appearance
- Dark Mode — Fully supported with neutral grey palette for readability
- Custom Theme — Adapts to your custom color palette automatically
- Profit color — Green when positive, red when negative
Enabling Auto Sum
- Click the JT Power Tools icon in your toolbar
- Find "Auto Sum" under Budget & Editing
- Toggle it on — works immediately, no page reload needed
