💬 ChatGPT & Claude Web MCP Setup

Connect JobTread to ChatGPT or Claude via OAuth

FULLY COMPATIBLE

Both ChatGPT and Claude (web) support MCP via OAuth 2.1. Add the server URL, sign in with your JT Power Tools account, and click Allow — no passwords or keys to copy.

Before You Start

  • Power User subscription — Get one here
  • JT Power Tools extension installed in Chrome — Install
  • A JT Power Tools account — you sign in with Google or an email link, the same way you sign in to the portal
  • An AI key for your JobTread org (an owner or admin adds one on the portal's AI connections page)

Setup Instructions

1

Enable Developer Mode

Go to ChatGPT → Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Toggle on Developer mode.

2

Create App

Click "Create" under Apps, enter a name, set authentication to OAuth, and paste this server URL — or, to tie the connection to one JobTread org, that org's MCP URL from its card on AI connections:

https://mcp.jtpowertools.com/mcp
3

Sign in on the JT Power Tools page. Your AI app opens it for you. Sign in the way you sign in to the portal: Google or an email link. If your company has AI keys for more than one JobTread org, pick one. An org's own MCP URL (from AI connections) skips this. Then click Allow.

Back in ChatGPT, let the tool scan finish and click Create.

4

Start Using It

That's it! Open any ChatGPT conversation and ask about your JobTread data. Try:

"Show me my active jobs" or "What tasks are due this week?"

1

Open Connectors

Go to claude.ai → Customize → Connectors.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Everyone else then finds it in Customize → Connectors and clicks Connect.

2

Add Custom Connector

Click "+ Add", then "Add custom connector". Enter a name, paste this server URL — or, to tie the connection to one JobTread org, that org's MCP URL from its card on AI connections:

https://mcp.jtpowertools.com/mcp

Click Continue. Leave the detected authentication settings as they are, choose Sign in now, then click Add.

3

Sign in on the JT Power Tools page. Your AI app opens it for you. Sign in the way you sign in to the portal: Google or an email link. If your company has AI keys for more than one JobTread org, pick one. An org's own MCP URL (from AI connections) skips this. Then click Allow.

4

Start Using It

That's it! Open any Claude conversation, click + and turn the connector on, then ask about your JobTread data. Try:

"Show me my active jobs" or "What's the budget for job #1234?"

How It Works

Both ChatGPT and Claude use OAuth 2.1 to securely connect to third-party MCP servers. When you add the server URL, the AI client automatically discovers the authentication endpoints and sends you to the JT Power Tools page.

You sign in once, on that page, the way you sign in to the portal. After that, the AI client uses an OAuth access token — ChatGPT and Claude never see your sign-in or your company's AI key.

You can revoke access at any time from the AI client's settings.

Troubleshooting

"Can't connect"? The page says why and what to do: join your team, have an owner or admin add an AI key on AI connections, or have an owner upgrade on Plan & billing. If it says the link expired, go back to your AI app and connect again.

"No grant key configured" or "Grant key validation failed" — Your org has no working AI key. An owner or admin adds one on AI connections, or swaps in a fresh JobTread grant key with Replace key on its card. Grant keys can expire if unused.

Connected to the wrong org? Remove the connector, add it again, and pick the right org when the page asks. An org's own MCP URL from AI connections skips the question.

Tools say they're "unavailable while role mirroring is on"? Your connection uses a License Key and Grant Key, which role mirroring denies. Remove the connector and add it again with just the URL — you'll sign in, and your JobTread role applies.
