Quick Notes provides a powerful notepad accessible from any JobTread page. With version 3.6.0, Quick Notes now includes user accounts, cloud sync, Team Notes for organization-wide collaboration, and folder organization to keep everything structured.

How to Access Quick Notes

Option 1: Keyboard Shortcut (Recommended)

The fastest way to open Quick Notes:

  1. Press Q then N
    Press Q followed by N in quick succession (within 500ms)
  2. Panel Opens
    The Quick Notes sidebar slides in from the right
  3. Press Again to Close
    Use Q+N again or press Esc to close
Pro Tip

The Q+N shortcut works from any page in JobTread - you don't need to navigate anywhere first. It's the quickest way to jot down a note while on a call or in a meeting.

Option 2: Header Icon (Always Visible)

Quick Notes adds an icon to JobTread's top header bar, right next to the other header icons like Time Clock and Notifications:

  1. Look for the Notes Icon
    Find the notepad/pencil icon in the top-right header area
  2. Click to Open
    Click the icon to open the Quick Notes panel
  3. Click Again to Close
    Click the icon again or press Escape to close

Setting Up Your Account

Creating an Account

  1. Open Quick Notes
    Press Q+N or click the header icon
  2. Click "Sign In"
    Found at the top of the Quick Notes panel
  3. Select "Create Account"
    Switch to the registration form
  4. Enter Your Details
    Email, display name (optional), and password
  5. Link Your License
    Your premium license is automatically linked to your account

Signing In

If you already have an account:

  1. Click "Sign In" in the Quick Notes panel
  2. Enter your email and password
  3. Click "Sign In" to authenticate
  4. Your notes will sync automatically
Stay Signed In

Once signed in, you'll remain authenticated across browser sessions. Your notes sync automatically in the background.

Using My Notes

Creating a Note

  1. Open Quick Notes
    Press Q+N or click the header icon
  2. Ensure "My Notes" is Selected
    Use the tab at the top of the panel
  3. Click the + Button
    Or click "New Note" to create a note
  4. Enter a Title
    Give your note a descriptive name
  5. Start Writing
    Use the editor to add your content
  6. Auto-Save
    Notes save automatically as you type

Organizing with Folders

  1. Create a Folder
    Click the folder icon or "New Folder" button
  2. Name Your Folder
    Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Client Meetings", "Templates")
  3. Move Notes to Folders
    Drag notes into folders or use the move option in the note menu
  4. Collapse/Expand
    Click the folder arrow to show or hide contents

Using Team Notes

Organization-Wide Sharing

Team Notes are shared with everyone in your JobTread organization. Perfect for SOPs, templates, contact lists, and reference materials that the whole team needs.

Accessing Team Notes

  1. Open Quick Notes
    Press Q+N or click the header icon
  2. Click "Team Notes" Tab
    Switch from My Notes to Team Notes at the top
  3. View Shared Notes
    See all notes shared by your organization

Creating Team Notes

Create notes that everyone in your organization can see:

  1. Switch to the Team Notes tab
  2. Click the + button or "New Note"
  3. Write your note content
  4. The note is automatically shared with your team

Team Note Best Practices

Everyone Can See Team Notes

Anything you create in Team Notes is visible to all users in your JobTread organization. Don't include sensitive personal information.

Offline Mode

If you're offline or not signed in:

Import & Export

Exporting Notes

  1. Click the Menu Icon
    Found in the top-right of the sidebar
  2. Select "Export Notes"
    Downloads a JSON file with all your notes
  3. Save the File
    Keep it as a backup or transfer to another computer

Importing Notes

  1. Click "Import Notes"
    From the menu dropdown
  2. Select Your File
    Choose a previously exported JSON file
  3. Choose Import Mode
    • Merge - Add imported notes to existing ones
    • Replace - Delete all existing notes and import
